read an interesting article from the newspaper, explaining that man & woman have different needs of friends, which concluded the 3 importance ones are:

Man: a Wife, a Lover, a Red Buddy 红颜知己

Woman: a Hubby, a Lover, a Blue Buddy 蓝颜知己

Spouse

means a person who you share all the responsibilities and to build a family with. After couple of years, even though he/she is outstation for a week, you would not have to worry so much on each other.

Lover

means a person who would most likely to please you physically with the exciting, wild & fun moments, which a hubby/wife would no longer do after having a 'family' (including kids, home, installments plans & etc). If he/she were away for 3 days, you will go crazy calling him/her hourly.

Buddy

means a person who support you mentally & emotionally when you faces problems with your hubby/wife and lover. He/she is also a person that you share most secret with as they are always the best listener and seems to provide u the best solutions. When buddy is not around, you will feel something is missing somewhere, just like a missing soul.

at the end of the last paragraph, the writer commented that, man/woman would wish that someday the buddy can become their lover. however, realistically it will never happen. And a lover will never be as responsible as a hubby/wife would be. Lastly, a spouse could barely provide what a buddy & lover would...
