wonder since when does travelling agent package their tours to become a shopping tour instead of "getting to know the countries"? let's dont talk about Tokyo, but Hong Kong for intense.
why does tourists visit HK? It is the Asian's shopping kingdom!!! Since when HK promotes their culture, heritage, traditions & etc...instead it is about entertainments, shopping...
when hongkies got bored shopping in HK, they will plan their shopping towards Tokyo or the Europe if their saving allows... my colleagues plan their annual leaves to spend their money in Tokyo to buy those so called "limited edition" fashion stuff. they would even spend couple of hundred to buy a really poor quality tshirt with a designer's signature on it... i mean, does it actually worth buying? is that wat limited edition meant to be? so what if you get the limited edition? who actually care?
i bought a teapot 10yrs back in taiwan which i tot it was unique, as i return to HK, i hardly use it. infact, everywhere on the street sells teapot. ppl buy things from overseas as souvinir, majority will most likely ended up at their store room or even got lost somewhere in the house, just like my teapot... i dono where i have placed it.
man works hard for better pay, but pay will commonly spent to buy something that is not worth to buy. or perhaps it is the feeling of satisfaction.
